Hello,

Next Friday, March 5, is the Karl Schlender Last Chance meet at UW-Whitewater in Whitewater, WI, with the starting at 11 AM with the pentathlon and women's high jump, and 5 PM with the regular field and running events.  Whitewater is about a 1 hour drive from Milwaukee.  This meet is a D3 last chance meet with competition mostly trying to qualify for NCAA D3 Nationals, so you should also use this meet as your "peak" meet of the indoor season!

If interested, please reply via e-mail only by no later than noon on Tuesday, March 2, with your selected event(s), seed time(s)/mark(s), and relay interest!!  Incomplete entries (lacking seed times/marks, etc.), and late entries will not be accepted!!

Also, let me know if you would need to carpool or if you're driving yourself.  We only have a 7 passenger minivan and may need to ask someone to help carpool, so the sooner you'd let me know if you need a ride, the better I can make arrangements to assure you'd have a spot in the carpool!

The cost of this meet is $15 per person, plus the cost of gas (your portion if carpooling as a passenger).  Meet fee payment must be received to me by no later than next Tuesday, March 2 (cost of gas portions would be determined Friday).  If I do not receive your meet fee payment by next Tuesday, your entry will be scratched!!

Those waived of paying these fees are:

1.  New members who have paid for the last GMTC recognized meet they've partipated in and/or have paid for indoor facility use to attend any of our practices this week (a receipt would be required).
2.  UWM students (if not in excess of 9...more than 9, and there may be some partial cost based on the number of students exceeding 9).
3.  Returning members who have earned coverage through participation in last summer's GMTC fundraising efforts.

If you do not fall in any of the 3 catagories above, then please either arrange to pay me during our organized practice, or mail your payment (check only) to me, which must be received in the mail by Tuesday, March 2!  Make checks payable to:  Greater Milwaukee Track Club

If mailing, then send payment to:

Hope to see you next Friday!

Hello,

Due to the increase of intramural teams using the Klotsche Center, the start time for organized practice on Mondays and Wednesdays will be 5:30 PM!  If you need to get in as a guest, please arrive 15 minutes earlier and also let me know by 4 PM that day that you need to get in as a guest so I can make arrangements for you.  Practice on Thursdays at MSOE will still continue to start at 5 PM.

Also due to not having a meet to attend next weekend, there will be a "time trial" practice added this Friday at the UWM Klotsche Center, tentatively starting at 6:30 PM!  I would need to know if you plan on attending, 'cause part of the time trial could be a relay!  :-)  More details on the time trial events for both distance runners and sprinters will be listed on the agenda, which will follow this e-mail.

Thanks,

Ken

So, if interested, please reply via e-mail only by no later than noon this Thursday, February 11, with your selected event(s), seed time(s)/mark(s), and relay interest!!  Incomplete entries (lacking seed times/marks, etc.), and late entries will not be accepted!!

Hello,

This Saturday, January 30, is the Tadd Metzger Invite at Carthage College in Kenosha, WI.  Carthage College is about a 45 minute drive from Milwaukee.  This is a large D3 meet that would take the better of the day, but nonetheless, there will be good competition for everyone.

If interested, please reply via e-mail only with your selected event(s), seed time(s)/mark(s), and relay interest, by no later than 9 PM this Wednesday, January 27.  Late requests will not be accepted!!

The cost of this meet is $25 per person (but could be lower per person if we have more than enough to make a full team, which is you've paid $25 up front and we have more than a full team, then you will be refunded the difference at the meet).  This fee would be waived for new members who paid for the last meet they've participated in (under GMTC by-laws of 50% coverage for new members) and/or new members who have paid this week to train in either UWM's Klotsche Center or MSOE's Kern Center (receipt must be provided).  This fee is also waived for returning members who earned coverage from participation in last summer's GMTC fundraising efforts.

Payment must be received by no later than this Thursday, January 28, whether it's in person at practice or via mail.  If we don't receive your payment, you will not be entered in the meet!!  If paying by check (pay only by check if mailing), then make the check out to (don't initial):  Greater Milwaukee Track Club

Hello,

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is hosting a developmental meet on Saturday, December 5th, in the Klotsche Center arena.  This is an all-comers meet with competitors of all ages, and is not an officially scored collegiate meet.  No matter what shape you're in, this meet can be used as a workout and a test, so I encourage you all to attend!  :-)

The meet will start at 9am with the facility opening at 8am for registration (please give yourself enough time to warm up for your event).  There is no pre-registration so please do not respond to me with your entries.  Just come to the meet, sign up (unlimited events), and the meet fee is $10.  Those who have earned meet fee coverage from your participation in last summer's fundraisers, please obtain a receipt and you will be refunded.

Below is the order of events.  Running events will be held first, and field events will begin after the completion of all running events.  There isn't a time schedule, all events are rolling start times...

Hello,

This Saturday, November 7, is the last cross country meet (on GMTC's schedule).  Though the President's Run at Concordia U is listed on our agenda, the actual meet we've chosen to attend is the Warriors "5K Run through the Park", hosted by WI Lutheran College at Greenfield Park in West Allis.  This meet happens to be more popular than the President's Run, so there's guaranteed numbers and competition for all.

This is an "all-comers" meet, so there won't be just collegiate runners, and both women and men run a 5K combined.  The race start time is 10 AM.

Because it's an all-comers meet, pre-registration is required, and more info about you would be needed.  So, if you're interested, please reply by no later than 9 PM this Wednesday, November 4, and I will need the following information from you (if you're missing any of this info, I cannot register you):  name, age, mailing address, e-mail address, and t-shirt size.

As for payment, it is $12, and unless you've earned coverage from our fundraising efforts last summer as a returning member or have met the "$50 worth of meet fee" requirement as a new member, you would have to pay me in advance.  You can either pay me at practice this week or mail your payment to me (which must be received by no later than this Thursday morning), via check only written out to (don't initial):  Greater Milwaukee Track Club

Thanks, and hope to see you at the meet this Saturday!

Hello,

Next Saturday, October 24, is the Badger Ridge Run (cross country meet), hosted by the University of WI at Zimmer Cross Country Course/University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, WI.  It will be a mix of D1 and D3 competition, and basically a tune up meet for colleges before their conferences and regional meets.  It will be a rather low key meet, but the course is new and I've heard great things about it, so it's definitely worth while to race on.

The men's 8K is at 10 AM, and the women's 6K is at 10:45 PM.  The course is about a 1 1/4 hour drive from Milwaukee.  The cost is $5 per person, but waived for those who have earned coverage through the GMTC fundraising efforts last summer, and/or new members who have satisfied the "$50 worth of meets" requirement.

If interested, please reply by no later than 9 PM this Tuesday, October 20.  Late replies will not be accepted.

Hope to see you there next Saturday!

Ken

Hello,

Next Saturday, October 10, is the Red Hawk CC Invite at Ripon College.  Ripon College is about a 1 1/4 hour drive from Milwaukee.  It is a smaller D3 meet with an awesome course, and definitely a good meet to start racing if you haven't done so already.  The women's 5K starts at 11 AM, and the men's 8K starts at 11:45 AM.

So, if interested, please reply via e-mail only by no later than 10 PM this Wednesday, October 7!!

The cost of the meet is $15 per person, but of course the fee is waived for returning members who have earned cross country coverage through this past summers fundraisers, and also waived for any new members who have satisfied the "$50 worth of meets" requirement (see GMTC by-laws in our website:  www.rungmtc.com).

Hope to see you there!

Hello,

Our next cross country meet is the Warriors Invite hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College at Greenfield Park in West Allis, WI, on Saturday, October 3.  This is a D3 meet, but there will be a good assortment of D3 schools there, making good competition for everyone.  Greenfield Park is about a 15 minute drive from downtown Milwaukee, and this meet is technically considered home meet for GMTC!  :-)

The women's 6K starts at 11 AM, and the men's 8K starts at noon.  The cost of this meet is $20 per person, and those who earned coverage from helping out at our fundraisers over this past summer are waived from this fee.  New members, this meet fee would go towards your "$50 worth of meet fees" (see GMTC by-laws for more info in our website:  www.rungmtc.com)

If interested, please reply via e-mail only by no later than 4 PM this Tuesday, September 29.  Late replies will not be accepted!

Hope you can come on out next Saturday and compete!

Hello,

Organized pre-season track/field is starting this Monday, September 21!  Organized cross country practice will continue this week as well!  Both pre-season track/field athletes and cross country athletes who are planning on attending our organized practices will meet at the north entrance of Lake Park (SE corner of the intersection of N. Lake Dr/ N. Lincoln Memorial Dr/ E. Kenwood Ave), both Monday and Wednesday at 6 PM!  In addition for pre-season track/field participants, there will be organized practice at Marquette's outdoor track this Saturday, September 26, starting at 2 PM.  Marquette's outdoor track is located across the street from Potawatomi Bingo on W. Canal St, just west of the 16th St viaduct.  Anyone planning on attending Saturday's practice who'll need a ride from the UWM campus area, please reply and let me know by no later than this Friday afternoon (Sept. 25)!

The location of our practices will also be indicated on each organized practice day on the agenda below.

For directions to each practice site, you should be able to mapquest and/or google for directions based on the description I've written above of their locations (for Marquette's track, you could just mapquest Potawatomi Bingo)!

Hello,

I hope you all are enjoying the summer!  Well, if you enjoyed it a little too much whereas you may have gotten out of shape, then the good news is the Greater Milwaukee Track Club is starting up practices and workout recommendations for the upcoming 2009 Cross Country season, and 2010 Indoor/Outdoor Track & Field season!  I look forward to your participation!

This week is the first week of recommendation of cross country practice, and the agenda is in the workout ininerary. The CC workouts are written by Kat Gal, former cross country runner for Cardinal Stritch College, and current 1/2 marathon competitor.  Keep in mind, you do not have to follow our agenda in order to be a part of GMTC.
Due to the nature of cross country, organized practice is depending on who's interested in running distances together, etc.  So, if any of you are interested in organized cross country practice, please reply to me and let me know what days and time range you would be available.  Our first cross country meet is tentatively on Saturday, September 5.

As for those interested in pre-season track practice, we will not have organized practice for that until Monday, September 21.

Ken Woodall
